About Black Currant
Blackcurrant is native to Central and Western Europe, and is widely grown and cultivated in southern Germany. It is easily distinguished in all seasons by the strong scent of its buds and leaves.
Obtained by a cold pressing process, the Blackcurrant Vegetable Oil It is a very rich source of Vitamin C and contains two important fatty acids in its composition: gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and stearidonic acid (STD), essential metabolic components for the skin and the body.
Blackcurrant still has large amounts of anthocyanins – a type of antioxidant – and broad anti-inflammatory activity. Its fatty composition offers regenerative and protective potential for the skin, with proven applications of benefits to the immune system and alleviation of discomfort related to the menstrual cycle.

When metabolized by the enzyme delta-6-desaturase, linoleic acid is transformed into FFA and then by the action of the enzyme elongase, it is transformed into dihomo gamma linolenic acid (DGLA), which produces anti-inflammatory mediators (PGE1 and LTE3). However, due to various circumstances – eating habits, stress levels, genetic issues, specific pathologies already present and the aging process itself –, have a metabolic block that prevents the production of AGL. This favors the emergence of a series of problems, such as; premenstrual syndrome, diabetes, skin diseases, etc.
Topical application of blackcurrant vegetable oil is highly effective in combating inflammatory processes such as atopic dermatitis (eczema) of varying degrees, flaking and itchy red lesions on the skin.

Studies also indicate the application of blackcurrant vegetable oil on the skin of diabetics, as they also have a deficiency in the synthesis of AGL.
